My mum makes the most delicious pineapple tarts… I’ve tried that first batch in KL on Xmas Eve and I’m yearning for more… Upon request, she decided to make another batch, but this time, she has help from many little helpers…

Grace and Annie helped by squeezing out the batter from the shaper,
My mom have already prepared the pineapple stuffing. They look like worms
Yin Sin rolled the pineapple fillings onto the pastry,
And arrange them nicely before putting them into the oven…

And finally, the final product!

It’s more than a month away from Christmas but we’re already somewhat in the Christmas spirit. We bought a Christmas tree and decorated it with lights and ornaments.
I even have smaller decorations in my room…
Orchard Road’s already lit up and soon, it’s time for Christmas shopping. If only I could do my Xmas shopping in Malaysia…

My parents wanted to give us a surprise…
None of us ever saw the newly renovated room which was before this a store room for the past umpteen years.
My brother used to sleep there when he was still in Ipoh, but after he left, it became a storage room for.. well, many things that we don’t even know existed. Reader Digest books from publications before I came upon this world was stored there. Many old text books during my parents time were stored there.. I think my parents might feel kinda sad as the so called ‘junks’ actually has sentimental value to them…
Anyway, it has been renovated into a bedroom! My parents hired interior designers to install cupboards, shelves, bedframe and most importantly, disposal of many old things.

The wardrobe is even the modern-sliding-door kind..

Now at least next time during festive seasons, none of us has to consider staying in hotel due to lack of space. I remember there was once during CNY, I have to sleep in the living room cause there’s no where else to sleep. =/

I’ll have a new house mate from now till December… It’s none other than our very own, Pinkie Chang Chin Ping. She’ll be working in Singapore now and will be temporarily staying with us.. Will be taking over jit-vern’s room and I’ve no idea where he’s bunking in the meantime. Only got the news today.. haha.. Pretty last minute eh?
But it didn’t matter.. The more the merrier I guess since I came from a relatively large family myself. Chee Lim will be coming down to Singapore for an interview also. If she manage to get a job here, it’ll be nice if they can find a place to stay nearby… Shall form a “mini Ipoh” community in the North East region. haha.

After about almost 4 months shifting into Hougang, I’ve finally arranged a house warming session with my friends. Reason I put it as part 1 is because there are two groups of people that I intend to do house warming with. The first series is with my English-speaking kakis in NTU – Elaine, Wai Seng, De Zien, Yi Wang and Shaun. Second one would be with my batch’s people, the more Chinese-speaking one. The latter one will save for another time. Well, I just hope after 4 months it’s not too late. I quite like being in this house now. It’s like every two weeks, there’s always ‘new’ people who visits the house. Two weeks ago was Chee lim they all. The two weeks before that was the house warming for the NUS people. Two weeks before that was Jason Ling, Suk Mun, Adele… etc. etc.
Anyway, back to the house warming.. We’re to have a pot luck session where each/a pair of us are to prepare something to eat. Yin Sin and I prepared spaghetti, Wai Seng and Iris prepared fruit salad, Yi Wang and Yen Ping brought drinks, Elaine and Shaun prepared fried prawns, De Zien brought cakes, Yvonne brought french fries, my housemates bought noodles and everyone contributed a bit of chips. We started preparing the food slightly late. Yin Sin and I prepared the spaghetti sauces first and stored it in the rice cooker before preparing the noodles when everyone arrives. Elaine and Shaun were very secretive with what they’re preparing. When they first came, they brought prawns, flour, salted eggs and curry powder… And they only prepared salted eggs before the rest came.
While we were waiting, we killed time by playing King of Fighters on the PS2.
Everyone arrives at about the same time near 7pm.. And then the ‘actual’ cooking begins.. After a lot of hard work from everyone, here’s the results which eventually ends up in our stomach.
Yea, so there were a lot of variety of food. As there weren’t that many of us, the food portion was alright with minimal waste. Then, we continued on the night with a drinking game where Shaun sponsored some vodka along with Yi Wang’s drinks.. And we ended up with a late night movie in the living room, The Ugly Truth. Some were dozing off during the show but it didn’t really matter.. Overall, it’s good company and good food.. Maybe next time can have something more of this.. =)
