Promotion Lunch Treat – Pacific Orchard Hotel

This year round, there were a lot of staffs being promoted in my company. In my department itself, there are already two promotions!
So, my promoted colleagues have arranged a lunch treating session at 10 at Claymore, in Pan Pacific Orchard Hotel.

The menu that was shared with us looks like it has a lot of food selections. But when we were there, the place isn’t as big as was expected though. The food was so-so. Some of them are quite good, some of them are not really up to standard.

The appetizers that I had!

There’s smoked ham, smoked salmon, kerabu, and a lot of other appetizers buried underneath. The appetizers are quite appetizing! A bit saltish though but I guess smoked meats are like that.

My main course consists of two of these! haha.. The fish was so-so but the black pepper lamb is delicious! Very tender meat.

And lastly, desserts! They serve durian pastes there.. yummy!

Yup. My department is only this small..

One month since I’ve worked

OMG! Time really flies. It’s exactly one month since I started working and I still feel very ‘fresh’ in my work life. Still feel very new albeit there’s many things that I’ve already learned.
But to sum up what happened in the past one month, here are a list of things that I’ve done/currently doing in my work.

In an almost chronological order:

  1. Met lots of new people, and new friends
  2. Read up on various company policies
  3. Write documents/paperwork on various projects
  4. Went to 2 night jobs where I ‘worked’ from 1am-5am
  5. Learned how to submit claims
  6. Learned how to use Microsoft Project
  7. Attended 19 meetings
  8. More or less understood/have a clear picture of how SingTel’s infrastructure works/consists of (with very little previous knowledge on cellular networking)
  9. Currently working on 3 different projects simultaneously
  10. Created a draft file of ‘task management’ for personal use to track tasks

Well, I’d say the past one month I’ve learned a lot of things. Some days are boring, some days are pretty exciting. But most importantly, I try not to bring work back home.

If there’s a lot of things to do, I’d rather stay in the office later then bringing it back to the house and do. House is supposed to be for solitude, isn’t it? Otherwise, work will keep haunting us at the back of our heads. Oh well, shall see how faithful I can keep to this ‘principle’.
