Need to control my diet

It has been a week of buffet-eating-spree for me.

On Wednesday, I had a lunch buffet at Greenhouse @ Ritz Carlton. It was for a project celebration where the project won some excellence award and was given some award money.. The food was great and food selection is good..

On Thursday, I had another lunch buffet at Triple 3 @ Mandarin Orchard Hotel. It was a farewell lunch for one my colleague, Celine. They had a 1-for-1 promotion for any DBS/POSB Cards.

Then at night, I went to Geylang for Frog Porridge and to celebrate Hon Yoong’s birthday.

On Friday, I had yet another lunch buffet in office where it’s a vendor lunch. They have a vast selection of seafood, spaghetti and dessert cakes.

Lastly on Saturday, I had seafood dinner at 3 Crabs Delicacy @ Outram Road.

The dinner was because Yvonne returned to Singapore and we gathered most of the Ipoh village people together.

After dinner, we had two rounds of dessert in Bugis! For the first one, I had durian and pomelo sago. The second one, I had tau foo fah! The Tau Foo Fah is really as slurpy as the one in Ipoh.. =D

With all these eating… I really need to watch my diet.. Need to exercise more and cut down on carbo intake.

Double Farewell Celebrations

Two farewell celebrations in a day, two seafood meals in a day… Luckily it’s not the same restaurant.

Friday became a farewell day for me as during lunch, had a farewell/welcome/teambuilding session with my department people at Jumbo near Indoor Stadium. Jumbo almost became the default place for any of my deparment’s outing.. Even though we always call for a vote each time there’s an outing. Ate the set meal which consists of several main course dishes. Of course, the main delicacy there are crabs, which wasn’t very nice in my opinion.

Mobile VAS Planning Jumbo

Then at night, had another farewell dinner for Yvonne at Melbann Seafood Restaurant. She’ll be flying off to Korea for the next 6 months after finishing her ‘6 months-shift’ here in Singapore. Again, had crabs again but ate more crabs here than Jumbo. But this time round, as most of us were there, we had a round of lou sang first. First lou sang of CNY. Okay, actually not really counted as it’s not CNY yet.. haha..

Then, had the usual crab meals and the stir-fried dishes. Was a very filling meal. Some came late as there was work to do but everyone was there by end of the day.

Later after that, they continued their night with drinks at a bar but too bad, Kah Hon and I couldn’t join them. Had to wake up early the next morning for other matters. Anyway, was a great night and hope Yvonne will do great in Korea. =)

Crab Bee Hoon @ AMK Block 233

This is my first crab-eating experience in Singapore. One of the things that Singapore is famous for is their Chilli Crab – along with Singapore’s Katong Laksa and Singapore Sling among other things.

Anyway, I never thought I’d have the chance to try their crab here but thanks to a time when Elaynne mentioned about this Crab Bee Hoon place in AMK, we eventually ended up going there. The planning stage was quite confusing as it involves friend’s of friends. It started off with just Elaynne, Zhi Sin and Huei Wenn (Elaynne’s childhood friend) and that Zhi Sin owes Huei Wenn a meal. So, they decided to go for this Crab Bee Hoon place. But there were too few of them to eat it, so Elaynne thought of asking me along since I know Huei Wenn too from Yuet Min. And since she asked me (and yinsin), well.. it ended up asking the rest of the people; (Elaynne’s friends) Yi Wang, Wai Seng along with (Huei Wenn’s friends) Yuet Min and Marc.

There were supposed to be more people though but many couldn’t make it in the end.. so, it was just 9 of us. It took us 90min to travel from NTU to AMK. The place is called Melbenn and it’s located at AMK Block 233 and I tell you, the queue over there when we were there was freakingly long. They took our orders while queuing up and after getting out seats, we were told to wait for about 1 hour for the crabs to be ready.. But the wait was quite worth it. The crabs were HUGE!!

We ordered THREE crabs
The Bee Hoon Crab, Butter Crab and Chilli Crab.

Bee Hoon Crab

Bee Hoon Crab (Large)

Butter Crab

Butter Crab (Large)

Chilli Crab

Chilli Crab (Medium)

And when they say it’s large, it REALLY REALLY huge! Like Big ASS huge!

The large crab claw really can fill one’s stomach. It has so much meat in it. Biggest crab claw I’ve eaten

Of course, we ordered some other stuff like

Thai Chicken (They call it Playboy Chicken)

Fried Beancurd

Fried Mantao

And the food? It was great! The crabs were really fresh. The sauce from the chilli crab is superb! When dip with the friend mantao.. Woah, damn syiok. This is one of the few times that I actually enjoyed crab. Normally, the not-so-fresh crabs have their meats sticking to the shell but this one, can easily separate the meat from the shell.

Of course, it’s not just about the food only. It was also one of the rare occasions where I can catch up with my Ipoh friend, yuet min. Think the last time I saw her was end of last year. Apparently, everyone is doing quite well in their own lifes. Stable career and relationships. Good to hear, good to hear.
