It all started with a 2kg Snoopy Cake… But end up, the Snoopy Cake wasn’t there at all..

Here’s the story:

facebook-event-invitation

Bi Shan threw herself a birthday party cause Deon ordered a 2KG Snoopy Birthday Cake for her… The both of them can’t finish the 2KG cake all by themselves so, she invited her friends in SG and even ordered extra stuffs for us – KFC, Pizza Hut, Canadian Pizza, Pastamania, Dessert Wine, etc.

So, in her party, there are basically two groups of people.. One, more towards Bishan’s friends. Another one, more towards Deon’s friends

bishan's-friends Actually for me, I know most of Deon’s friends cause they were from NTU – my seniors. But they are closer to my sister though, Grace, as they were her juniors. haha..

Anyway, we just mingled, chatted and eat the food we see in her house while Deon and his friends played board games.

IMG_1487 He has this big collection of board games! He even has a starcraft board game… OMG.. lol. Apparently, it was so complicated that it became a display set.. Haha..

Then finally, the birthday cake! Well, the Snoopy Cake didn’t turn up cause the cake shop just didn’t do them.. Maybe it was too complicated?? But the thing is, they didn’t even inform that they are not going to prepare the 2KG Snoopy Cake for them. End up, there’s a 2 X 1Kg Ice Cream Cake from Swensen’s.

birthday-cakes And tada! Surprise!!

surprise Okay fine.. There isn’t really much of a surprise since she threw herself her own party. She even put the candles on the cake herself… We’re quite bad guests actually.. We keep demanding her to prepare drinks for us.. Haha..

Anyhow, she still enjoyed herself.. Can see from her happy face…

IMG_1498The cake was quite good. Did I mention that her place is very nice too?

All the girls at her place…

Two farewell celebrations in a day, two seafood meals in a day… Luckily it’s not the same restaurant.

Friday became a farewell day for me as during lunch, had a farewell/welcome/teambuilding session with my department people at Jumbo near Indoor Stadium. Jumbo almost became the default place for any of my deparment’s outing.. Even though we always call for a vote each time there’s an outing. Ate the set meal which consists of several main course dishes. Of course, the main delicacy there are crabs, which wasn’t very nice in my opinion.

Mobile VAS Planning Jumbo

Then at night, had another farewell dinner for Yvonne at Melbann Seafood Restaurant. She’ll be flying off to Korea for the next 6 months after finishing her ‘6 months-shift’ here in Singapore. Again, had crabs again but ate more crabs here than Jumbo. But this time round, as most of us were there, we had a round of lou sang first. First lou sang of CNY. Okay, actually not really counted as it’s not CNY yet.. haha..

lou sang

Then, had the usual crab meals and the stir-fried dishes. Was a very filling meal. Some came late as there was work to do but everyone was there by end of the day.

group 1 Out first batch of meal Chee Lim, Chin Zwen and James aren’t here yet.

group 2 When we were leaving and everyone was there

Later after that, they continued their night with drinks at a bar but too bad, Kah Hon and I couldn’t join them. Had to wake up early the next morning for other matters. Anyway, was a great night and hope Yvonne will do great in Korea. =)

I’ve gotten my Singapore PR Approval! After waiting for 3 months+, I now have a Singapore IC number and have all the privileges close to a Singapore citizen.

I can buy property, apply for credit cards, get government funding… And can use the fast lane at the immigration check point. haha

Hmm.. I’m sure I can think of more benefits of becoming a PR….

My first actual Christmas celebration in Singapore, celebrated with Ipoh Mali peeps. Have brought over the Ipoh give-exchange tradition over here, where we bought presents for each other. You can see the collection of presents under the Christmas Tree below.

At the same time, Ian’s birthday falls on the 27th December and we celebrated his birthday together in this joyous occasion. Melanie (Ian’s gf) was the main organizer where she prepared and bought most of the things. We had turkey, spaghetti, roast pork and lots of booze! haha

While waiting for the complete arrival of guests, we had some nice group pictures…

Some, were anxious to look for their presents.

After our nice and fulfilling meal, we just talked and chilled out.. The atmosphere was soaked in christmas songs but the TV had football matches in it. Liverpool, Man U  and Arsenal matches, back to back.. hahah.

There were drinking sessions…

Partying & singing sessions…

And of course, since it’s Ian’s Birthday Celebration too, we had a birthday session for him too!

We made the two of them did some stunts which I won’t be revealing here. But those who knows, well.. you know.

Here’s to Ian with the ladies.

Anyway, the ‘best’ part is up next – the opening of presents!

There were two parts to the give exchange. First part is where each of us buy a present approx $10 and we exchange them via a ‘musical chair’ concept.

We passed the presents around until the music stops playing and get the keep the present in front of us. The present I’ve gotten was from Chin Zwen where she bought a Kitty Vacuum Cleaner.

The second part is where we bought individual gifts for each other. Residents of the house bought a present each for each other and some are actually enjoying the gift of giving…

And shouting…

Then, there are gifts from the house… They bought lots of food supplies..

I’ve received quite a bit from my friends – from post it notes to slippers to mattress protectors.opened-presents

A very fun and Christmas-ey night. With the usual Ipoh-Gang..

But there’s missing Yin Sin in there.. She went back home to spend some time with her family…

Nevertheless, next thing to look forward to – Christmas Celebration with my family!

Think the last time I’ve been to the SIngapore Zoo was 2 years ago with my family. This time round is my 3rd time to the zoo. Didn’t mind going there again as the zoo’s really interesting. At least, compared to the Taiping Zoo near my hometown. I managed to get 4 complimentary passes thanks to my company’s Corporate Pass. Managed to ballot the pass after trying twice! Yin Sin hasn’t been there before and so decided to bring her there. I invited Yi Wang and Yen Ping also as not to ‘waste’ the 2 more free entries.

I reached there at 845am. It’s about an hour’s away journey from my place at Hougang. At that time of day, there’s very little crowd and the animal’s have just awaken.

First, it’s the proboscis monkey, found in the land of Sabah. It has a very long nose, like an ‘ang moh’ monkey

There’s the white tiger taking it’s morning walk…

Ducks going for their morning swim

And the elephants are having breakfast…

The birds only flew and joined in at 930am

parrots

The otters woke up late cause when I went to their habitat at 8 something, there’s nothing to be seen. Only at around 930 that they come running out playing around.

Even the birds are looking for food..

Next to their rhino counterparts, that is…

While some animals have to reach high up for food…

Some have their food properly laid out for them…

Some like to be fed.

While the cheetahs are lying around on the grass, lazing under the shed..

Can you tell the difference between these cats? The below is a jaguar

There’s also the ostrich, having their morning bowel movements. It’s quite gross actually…

There’s this tongue-like thing jutting out from it’s anus.

Then it sucks back in after it’s done

Then it’s the animals at play! There’s this sea lion that’s very active; jumping around, splashing water…

We left at approximately 300pm… After about 6 hours of non-stop walking. And the afternoon sun’s blazing hot. But at least, we covered most of all the activities. Went to all of the shows, and most of the feeding sessions. Was a fun but tiring outing… Think I’m getting old….
