Early-Valentine’s Day in 2010

Due to the situation where Valentine’s Day this year falls on the first day of Chinese New Year, Yin Sin and I decided to celebrate it a week earlier, as well… Valentine’s Day is kind of man-made anyway.. So, we just set it a date around that time.

The day started with a trip to Tampines’s Ikea. We were supposed to be there for breakfast but ended up there for lunch instead. We didn’t really have many things in mind to buy but just wanted to take a walk there…

So, we lazed around the Ikea setting…

And had lunch there. With their famous Swedish meatballs.

Bought a few stuff from Ikea (no bulky items) and we headed off to Giant, which was just opposite Ikea. The Giant there is really big.. Kinda remind me Malaysia when in GIant. Even the air smells like the one in Malaysia.

Giant isn’t really a good place to walk around, especially in the cold storage area. There’s so many people there!! Pushing the trolley around proves to be difficult. But one thing good is that, when walking down the aisles, we get to taste various samples of food..

After that, the silliest thing happened. We wanted to go back to the North East area and decided to take the free shuttle bus which takes us from the ‘retail area’ to Sengkang/Punggol. We managed to board the bus but the thing is, we didn’t know where to alight. We wanted to go to Punggol and I was waiting for the bus to alight at Punggol Central. The bus was so near Punggol Central… but it didn’t end up there… So, what happened was… we waited and waited.. and we ended up back in Ikea/Giant/Courts area. We took one big round around the area.. lols

One good thing happened from there was that, we took our nap in the bus and was energized to walk again. He continued our journey to Courts. Courts is a good place to shop. Lots of cheap electronics and many other electronics to see.. I even bought YIn Sin’s valentine’s present from there! haha

comb-dryer

It’s a comb + hair dryer! Hot air coming out from the brush end…  =)

And we did the smartest thing ever in Courts. We went and sit on the OTO massaging chair. Damn syiok.. lol

When we were done, it was almost evening. We headed to Punggol correctly this time and I took her to Punggol Beach.

Lots of people were fishing there.. But the beach wasn’t very big. We just chose a cosy spot by the rocks and just enjoyed the waves there..

Took some pictures there…

Had ice-cream there and took some crazy pictures…

The breeze was great.. even gave a nice effect to her hair..

Right before it starts to get dark, we took the bus to Kovan for our dinner. We stopped by at some floral place where it provides landscaping solutions.. Very beautiful flowers..

And of course, lastly, we had Thai Cuisine for dinner! Very good and spicy Thai food at Nakhon Kitchen… Both of us were having tears and our faces all red from the spiciness. The tom-yam soup is a must try!

After stuffing our stomach with all the food… (did I mention it was a 45-min wait for us to be seated?), we walked around Heartland Mall in Kovan. Okay, it may not be a very romantic Valentine’s Day outing, but we sure did enjoy ourselves.. By the time we reached home, we were like half-dead already… Anyway, one more week to CNY!! Can’t wait.. =)

Valentine’s Day 09′

February 14th, a well-known day for businesses to bloom – especially florists and diners
Valentine’s is over-commercialized to the extent that people celebrate V’day for the sake of celebrating it..
Well, that’s the pessimism side of looking at it..

If you’re the type of person that thinks the glass is half-full, then Valentine is a day to remind you to celebrate your love with your loved ones.. be it your special someone, your family, or your friends. For me, I celebrated my day with my special someone…

Guess it started from midnight.. I gave her flowers! Tried sneaking into her room to put the flowers on her table… But I dind’t see her in the corner at her wardrobe.. But I schocked her though.. lol

Then, we exchanged our gifts.. Well, I already gave her her valentine’s 2 weeks before… Thought she could use it first.. haha… I gave her a bag =).

And on valentine’s day itself, I gave her Moo’s MiniCards of us..

In return, I got a belt and wallet from Picard!

dsc00841It’s a really nice leather wallet with lots of compartments in it (including coin compartment too!)

Okay, so in the morning.. we left NTU at about 10am… I didn’t want to tell her where I’m taking her.. Wanted to give her a surprise.. But basically, what she really wanted is to go to places she hasn’t been before and the ‘feeling’ of exploring around together.. Hence, I made it so natural.. lol..  Our first destination was IKEA. She said she’s been wanting to go IKEA for a very very long time but never had the chance.. So, we had to alight at queenstown. Coincidentally, I was having a bad tummy ache in the train, had a very strong urge to pass motion.. Eventually, I requested to alight at queenstown to use the MRT’s toilet. Bloody MRT station is having their toilet renovated until end of the month. We had to go to a nearby church to use their toilet. We self-invite ourselves into the church, all the way to the 3rd floor (cause their ground floor’s toilet is locked).

Anyhow, I said that we might just go to the bus stop and see if any bus takes us to where we’re supposed to go.. haha.. Conveniently, I acted like I was unsure and alighted bus 195 (the bus that goes to IKEA). We stopped a stop earlier so that we could be like we’re lost.. haha.. but eventually took her to ikea which was about 100m away.

I thought we would just do some window shopping at IKEA but we ended up buying quite a lot of stuff.. From towels to cups and to candles! haha..It’s always fun shopping at IKEA.. so many nice things to see.. I’ll go ‘crazy’ when I’m in the kitchen’s department.. lol.. I think I’m somewhat like an ‘auntie’.. Have a liking for cutleries, cooking utensils, etc. haha..

We had our lunch there.. Her first swedish lunch where we had meatballs and shrimp salad.. The meal was good.. and not expensive at all! Just about $10 for the both of us.. lol.. We continued shopping around and decided to go on to the next destination at about 1pm.

Our next destination is Singapore Botanical Gardens..! I made her guess our destination when we boarded the bus from Queensway. Gave her clues like ‘a place where we can see swans!’. lol.. she had no idea that we can see swans in Singapore (cause I told her it’s not Singapore Zoo nor Jurong Bird Park).

dsc00931

Anyway, she was excited when we were there cause she hasn’t been there before too. I think it’s a great place to enjoy nature.. and of course, to ‘pak tor’.. Lots of couples there, family chilling out, people walking their dogs, youths gathering around. At first, I thought of having a picnic there but we dind’t have much time as we still have dinner plans.. lol.. But there were so many people picnicking there. It was a very tiring walk there though. We walked from one end to another end… Got lost a couple of times and need to constantly check the map to avoid unwanted detours. That place is HUGE, mind you..

We saw someone used flower petals to form an “I love U” in the park! It was beautifully done..

dsc00826

We had a great time there… Looking at animals (swans and squirrels), plants and nature in general. There was even an area called the “evolutionary path” where it tries to educate visitors and simulate from when Earth was first formed to the present day – How plants evolved.

Best location that we went was the bamboo refloxology place. In other words, stone walking!! (around bamboo trees). After all that walking, the stone refloxology really helped.. Removed the weariness from all those walking.. lol..

We eventually exited from the other end (near the new Circle MRT) and took a direct bus back to Boon Lay.

We cooked our own Valentine Dinner. For appetizer, we made fried planta bread with Tomato Soup with a hint of cheese.

Main Course -  Cheese-coated Baked Potatoes with Bacon Flakes

dsc00834The pictures doesn’t really do justice to the food as it’s only taken with my camera phone. It looks much more yummier especially with the cheese coating.. Can hardly see anything here..

We had all these together with sparkling wine.

dsc00839

Oh, there’s supposed to be cheesecake for dessert too but we were too full to have it. Will save that for the next day… =)

Valentine’s Day~!

Well, it’s not like it’s a very meaningful day for me, since i’m kind of single… but anyway, i think i kinda had fun though.. haha.. Had the normal routined schedule filled with classes from 830am till 730pm.. But in between, had a break from 330 till 600.. and NTU has this event called the “Nanyang Arts Festival”.. It’s where they give u free food (popcorn and cotton candies), setting up arcade games(like daytona, ice hockey, para para dance, etc) in north spine for free! Giving lots of free give-aways, stores selling stuffs,.. (most of them related to V Day), free rides, not to mention some cheap stuffs too.. Bought a file from “Lost & Found Section” for $1.. tempted to buy a small Nalgene bottle for $0.50.. but was adviced not to cause don’t know what history it had b4.. But anyway, spent around 1 hour plus in the festival (more like carnival,).
Then, became a good boy and studied a while in the library before going for my lecture at 6.. Oh, and my company? there are ying sin, eng sue, lai fai, chee kheng, kuanjan, han yoong, and chsiung.. Accounting lecture was DAMN boring… the new lecturer is teaching VEeerryy Slowllyy.. haha.. i gave up on listening to him… read the lecture notes on my own.. and left at 700 after i’m done with it..
We regrouped together for dinner… and those ppl are crazy enough to actually go out of NTU for a walk! Haha.. we walked from city hall, to esplanade, to boat quay, clark quay… then took a train back to school.. (and i’m supposed to have a CA on thursday).. And what’s worse? By the time i came back and settled down, there’s “training” for CS… sigh… played all the way till 2am from midnight… Think i’ve to be a good boy tmr and study in btw classes… =/

Valentine’s Day 05′

First duty for Valentine’s Day is to help my mum in her school; as a photographer… cause they hired some lion dance thingy to be performed there.. my mum called at 830 and i was still sleeping buy then.. haha.. dun even have time to the toilet and went straight to school… saw sze yan there..

While i was surfing the net, my sister suddenly rang up.. I picked up the phone and she said “eh, come down to kl now!”.. i was like dumbfounded.. haha.. apparently, the person’s that she’s supposd to come down with for a business trip suddenly had a meeting and couldn’t make it.. so, it’s a bit dangerous for a woman to go down to kelantan alone.. therefore, it’s either me or my dad whose supposed to go down to kl today and the next 2 following days to kelantan.. and i pushed it to my dad.. =/
luckily, managed to get a plusliner ticket at 330 and fetched my dad there… i went straight to ian’s house after that though… just to visit him..
he showed me some video that he made himself for valentine’s day and alot of other pictures with his church friends.. then, apparently, yee weng actually DID went out with mei yin.. haha.. michelle called ian and said that she saw yw with myin together.. haha. and commented that yw dress like very err.. (going to interview type; tuck in shirt, etc.) while myin dress till very class. haha.. so glad for him..
(btw, we kinda planned alot of things lar when we went to bj’s house last night… helped him set up a date and played NFSU2 with ts and yw..)

i’ve to catch a movie at 630.. and von only told me bout it at 445 like that.. so, i’ve to really RUSH to get ready.. cause i’ve to water the plants (that needs to take half an hour), eat, bathe, feed the fish and peel mandarin oranges (cause gonna busuk liao) haha.. plus i’ve to pick up sheik yan some more… anyway, managed to leave the house at 605 and reached jj at 635.. haha.. not bad eh? we watched constantine! very good show.. though i dun like the idea that angel gabriel is evil.. haha…
show ended like about 845, then we headed to onn kee to eat nga choi kai.. meanwhile, i went back home to put back the car and omega will be picking me up from my house.. (she joined us after the movie) the nga choi kai also quite nice… 8 of us all summed up to RM50.60 i think.. kar wai and another von’s friend is there also lar..

later, all of them came to my house after sending siah back home when her mum came to pick her up at the nga choi kai place.. came my house for the mahjong.. since von’s house dun have and they wanna learn how to play.. well, we played mahjong, black jack, in between till like 1am or so… then everyone went back…
oh, did i mention about cp’s case? aih.. while i was in the cinema, she called up and ask me where grassland is.. i misund and tot it was medan gopeng and i gave her wrong directions.. in the end, she got fed up & lost and didn’t want to talk to me anymore… sad case.. haha…
well, so much for valentine’s day… quite nice lar… get to spend it with friends.. wonder what’s installed for tmr..
